RULES of "The Club"
NAME
The name of the club shall be The Club.
OBJECTS
The objects of The Club are to stimulate discussion and a closer understanding between manufacturers and importers of motor cycles, scooters, mopeds, sidecars and three-wheelers, by meeting and riding together socially.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the Motor Cycle Industry Executive’s Club is restricted to invited Senior executives in the Motorcycle Industry (defined as manufacturers and importing firms of complete machines, components, accessories etc. together with their trade associations and marketing support agencies).
FOUNDER MEMBERS
All those who took part and rode on the two experimental runs held in Stratford-upon-Avon in April 1963 and in Swansea in October 1963, shall be founder members.
ENTRY/MEMBERSHIP
An executive wishing to apply for membership of The Club must first attend three Runs as the guest of a member and ride the chosen route (or travel in a sidecar) on each occasion. For any Run that a guest attends to be counted as a qualifying Run, the guest must meet the eligibility criteria. Following the second Run a Member wishing the guest’s eligibility for Membership to be confirmed must submit in writing to the Club Secretary, who will distribute to the Committee, brief career details of the guest. The Committee shall then determine the eligibility of the guest for Membership and the secretary will confirm this, or otherwise, to the Proposer before invitations for the guest’s third Run are mailed. Following completion of the third Run an eligible guest may then make application to become a Member via their Proposer, supported by another Member as a Seconder, submitting their application to the first possible General Meeting. The Proposer should provide the meeting with the applicant’s status within the industry together with brief career details.
When the guest has been proposed and seconded, the application will be open for discussion by Members, who may vote on their suitability in the meeting, and also register support or objection either at the meeting or by letter to the Secretary within 14 days of the date of circulation of the Minutes relative to the guest’s third qualifying Run. In the event of objections that the Committee does not uphold, the committee will make a final decision in good time for a successful applicant to be invited to the next Run. The Committee’s decision will reflect the feelings of the club membership as expressed in general meeting or subsequently as outlined above. In a case of doubt the Committee will seek further information from the guest or their sponsors and refer back to the full membership at the next General Meeting, when a final decision will be made. Meanwhile, the application will remain in suspense but the applicant may be invited to attend a contemporary run as a guest of their sponsors. The Member who originally invited the guest should remain the Sponsor throughout the procedure if possible.
NON ELIGIBLE GUESTS
The Club welcomes members guests falling outside the basic tenets of membership provided they have a sufficiently strong connection with the industry to ensure that they will make convivial and informed company. This enables the Club members to widen their perspectives of motorcycling matters by promoting discussion and fellowship with enthusiastic motorcyclists.
The frequency with which members may invite the same guest falling into this category will be no greater than twice every three years.
COMMITTEE
The affairs of The Club shall be managed by a committee which shall consist of: a Club Chairman, a Vice Chairman, an Hon. Secretary, an Hon. Treasurer and a minimum of three other members. Five members shall constitute a quorum. The Club Chairman will serve a two year term of office. At the end of his first year of office, the Chairman will nominate the Chairman Elect who will join the Committee as Vice-Chairman. On stepping down the Chairman will automatically serve on the Committee for a further year as Vice-Chairman and thereafter automatically retire from the Committee. The Committee shall have the power to co-opt additional Committee members at any time. All appointments are subject to ratification by the Members at Annual General Meeting save for co-opted Members who shall be subject to ratification at the next Annual General Meeting.
SUBSCRIPTION
There shall be a one off subscription of £25 which will confer life membership so long as the Member remains eligible. If a Member becomes ineligible due to employment, he may be invited to remain a Member at the discretion of the committee provided that any new career (if any) is not solely retailing motorcycles, components, accessories etc.
RETIRED MEMBERS
"Retired Members" are defined as Members who are 65 years of age and over and not working.
NOTE! - RUN RULES
"Run Rules" are different to "Club Rules". Run Rules are for the guidance of members and guests regarding the run itself and can be found in the Terms and Conditions or in Organisers Help.
